YOGA TYPES revised 2-20.png

A chance to dance in your own home with other beings on your screen.

Release pent-up energy stuck in the body and let go of some old nonsense clogging up the mind.

Shake, stomp, groove and move, before settling down and relaxing with a guided meditation.

We will play, connect, laugh and maybe even shed a tear.

You will leave feeling fully refreshed and restored.

“It was great to do a different kind of fitness to get the endorphins going.  We also loved the music and the girls dreamt they were at a festival, deciding which stage to go to next.”

Music feeds my soul

Moving my body fills my being with a sense of magic, which lifts my spirits and sets me free. Dancing allows my body to be liberated and my mind to be empty. When I dance and make fun and silly shapes with my body, the music and me become one. I let go of all my problems; my worries and woes are stomped, shaken, swirled and sweated out in the most joyous of ways.

It's a fun, experimental, creative and playful form of therapy.

AND it makes me feel really good.

YOGA TYPES revised 2-15.png

Whichever way you look at it, dancing has the ability to lift you up. It’s a great complement to yoga which can sometimes feel rigid, with its set sequences and holding poses in stillness. Dancing allows more fluidity, a light playfulness and other worldliness - whether you’re learning steps with a partner, or going wild, by yourself, barefoot on a sandy beach to psytrance under a full moon - or in your living room with your friends on screen!

“Rhythm is our universal mother tongue. It's the language of the soul.”

Gabrielle Roth

For years now, I've made up my own version of 5 Rhythms which I’ve shared with groups on my retreats. These are always very powerful, liberating and fun.

5 Rhythms is a conscious movement meditation practice, devised by Gabrielle Roth in the 1970's. It's a dynamic practice that ignites creativity and connection within the body to bring stillness in the mind.

It is a journey of the soul.

I decided to enrol on a Chakra Dancing (CD) teacher training course, so that I could lead a more guided way of moving. CD is a wonderful heart-centred practice, focusing on moving the body through the 7 different chakras along the spine, allowing more self-awareness and self-expression. It's a fun and cathartic experience helping you release stress and tension, as well as feeling more grounded and connected. I’ve also attended courses and workshops with Movement Medicine, run my the wonderful couple, Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan. They bring a shamanistic approach to their work - of which I resonate and connect with.

I often put my own unique twist on the dancing and grooving medicine lessons to enable diversity within the practice.

Dancing and yoga are very complementary and I offer dancing on my retreats and other events.

These days I hold online dance and guided meditation morning.

Such a brilliant way to start the day!

“Jaya’s clear but subtle instruction guided me gently into my own self expression of movement. Dancing to an expertly crafted playlist that just made me want to move my body, I was transported from a gentle bounce, through shaking to throwing shapes that just felt good to release.”
